ATLANTA-Chocolate manufacturer Mars Inc. of Hackettstown, NJ has completed a $74 million expansion of its Cleveland, TN plant where a new line, Cookies And, is being added. No major building construction was involved in the expansion of the property. The square-footage of the plant wasn't disclosed.

Most of the funding went for equipment purchases and production line installations and modifications, according to Industrial Information Resources Inc., a Houston-based industry researcher. Masterfoods USA of Cleveland, TN is overseeing the plant's production.

The East Tennessee plant produces all of the Twix bar line and is one of two national sites that makes M&M chocolates. The plant produces about 25 tractor-trailer loads a day of the chocolates.
