Royal Caribbean to Set Sail from San Diego

SAN DIEGO-In a boost for the city's waterfront and sagging tourism industry, Royal Caribbean International and the Port of San Diego reports that Grandeur of the Seas will sail from the California seaport this summer.

SAN DIEGO-Royal Caribbean International and the Port of San Diego said Thursday that a new ship, Grandeur of the Seas will sail from the California seaport this summer.

The 74,140-ton, 1,950-passenger ship will offer 19 sailings from San Diego in 2002, from May 19 through September 21–the first time in 10 years that summertime weekly roundtrip cruises will be offered out of San Diego Bay. It’s the fourth Royal Caribbean vessels sailing from San Diego this year. Royal Caribbean’s sister cruise line, Celebrity Cruises, also will sail three ships from San Diego this summer.
