PITTSBURGH, CA-The City of Pittsburg is being sued for allegedly trying to bend the laws in its favor to rezone a 294-acre property for single-family houses. A developer who plans to develop an apartment complex on the site alleges that the city is not following proper legal procedures.

The developers of Alves Ranch, a 294-acre site close to the Pittsburg-Bay Point BART and Bailey Road, says that the city approved a new general plan last month, which zoned 35 acres of the property for high-density residential development.

The Alves partners proceeded to take action on their plans to develop a 556-unit apartment complex. However, the city is now attempting to rezone the land for single-family housing, and the Alves partners claim that they arte violating planning law.
