Broker a Deal, Spin the Prize Wheel

SAN FRANCISCO-In a city with 13 million sf of empty office space, landlords are feeling the pressure and brokers are benefiting from their desperation. Brokers who can land tenants for San Francisco landlords are being rewarded with cash, travel, cars and more.

SAN FRANCISCO-ROK Properties, a San Francisco landlord, has upped the ante for commercial real estate brokers who can find tenants to fill entire floors in its largely vacant South of Market office building.

Any broker who secures a long-term tenant for a 35,000-sf floor of the building, which is located at 160 King St., will win a BMW X5 sports utility vehicle, valued at $60,000. A broker who can place a tenant in two floors will win a limited edition BMW Z8 roadster, valued at $135,000. Smaller deals will earn the broker a vacation in Hawaii. The 160 King St. building has about 155,000-sf, but only one tenant occupying 57,000-sf.
