LOS ANGELES-Clearing another hurdle in the decade-long effort to rebuild the inner city following the 1992 riots, Chesterfield Square recently celebrated its successful lease up.

The $60-million, 250,000-sf commercial development, now 95% leased, is the first major urban destination retail center to be built in South Los Angeles since the violent aftermath of the Rodney King decision in April 1992. Chesterfield Square is located on 22 acres at Western and Slauson Avenues, 1.3 miles from Florence and Normandie, the recognized “flashpoint” of the civil unrest that killed 54 and caused $1-billion in property damage.
