Caxtongate is a mixed-use development in Birmingham's prime retail pitch. The scheme has been undertaken in three phases on a site bounded by Corporation Street, Cannon Street and Temple Street.
The first two phases comprise 130,000-sf of retail let to Jane Norman; Levis; H&M; Jigsaw; Muji; Hobbs and Ted Baker, together with 14,994 sf of offices and 22 apartments on the upper levels. Phase I completed in September 1997 and Phase II completed in February 2000.
Phase III will provide another 24,000 sf of retail space over three levels with 56 apartments on six storeys over. The developer said the striking modern design will contrast dramatically with the Grade II listed terracotta facade of the adjacent Phase II. Work is expected to beginin summer 2002 and complete in autumn 2003.
