LONDON-Land Securities–which is already involved in two million sf of retail development in Birmingham–has gained planning permission for a third phase of its Caxtongate scheme in New Street in the city centre.

Caxtongate is a mixed-use development in Birmingham’s prime retail pitch. The scheme has been undertaken in three phases on a site bounded by Corporation Street, Cannon Street and Temple Street.

The first two phases comprise 130,000-sf of retail let to Jane Norman; Levis; H&M; Jigsaw; Muji; Hobbs and Ted Baker, together with 14,994 sf of offices and 22 apartments on the upper levels. Phase I completed in September 1997 and Phase II completed in February 2000.
