A's Ask for Lease Extension to '07

OAKLAND, CA-The Board of Supervisors decides this week whether to approve the Major League Baseball franchise's proposal. The JPA, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors and the Oakland City Council all must approve the proposal.

OAKLAND, CA-A proposal by Alameda County Supervisor Scott Haggerty to extend the lease of the Oakland A’s until at least 2007 while the issue of a new ballpark is considered is headed to the Joint Powers Authority.

Haggerty’s proposal, which will come to the Board of Supervisors after it is considered by the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Authority, or JPA, extends the lease through the end of the 2007 baseball season. During this week’s Board of Supervisors meeting, Haggerty said that extending the lease would be a positive step toward keeping the A’s in Oakland.
