Dow Finds New Site for $100M Pharma Complex

SMITHFIELD, RI-Dow Chemical Co. will be able to develop a bio-pharmaceutical research and manufacturing facility and Fidelity Investments will expand its campus thanks to a land swap deal brokered by the state's Economic Development Corp.

SMITHFIELD, RI-A state-brokered deal will allow Dow Chemical Co. to develop a $100-million bio-pharmaceutical research and manufacturing facility while providing additional land to Fidelity Investments to expand its operations.

Both companies lease property on part of a 350-acre parcel owned by the state. Fidelity leases 300 acres and has a regional service center where it employs 1,600 people. The company developed its site six years ago and now occupies two office buildings containing approximately 525,000-sf of office space as well as two parking garages accommodating 2,2000 cars. This was to be the first phase of its campus plans which it intends to expand.
