"It's a complete life cycle integration solution," Rob Vanderwerf, the newly appointed COO of Workplace IQ tells GlobeSt.com. "It makes it much easier to share information across groups and functions and increase efficiency."

According to Steve Yellin, director of product marketing for Aperture, the two companies identified each other nearly simultaneously and "saw synergies of the two products working together." The partnership will allow both companies to expand their market reach. Yellin notes that historically, Aperture was more involved in the corporate world but this product will allow Aperture to provide its customers with a web-based ASP solution.

Vanderwerf emphasizes that the product can be used by users involved in all sectors of the real estate industry. It has portfolio-management capabilities including lease administration, transaction management and project management with facility management visualizations. From a web browser, real estate customers can move from a GIS view that can drill down to the floor plan view, review allocations and open the lease abstract to review their options and critical dates, before making a decision on relocation.

"We would have full data association," Vanderwerf points out. "If a real estate manager needed to make sure he was optimizing his space utilization or had a requirement for a new location he could go into the database and identify the location that met those characteristics. Then he could go into the Aperture database to identify the space plan and configuration and make sure it's appropriate."

Vanderwerf notes that the product can also help its user kick off a project by updating the property equipment and network, organize scheduling and team management and workflow tools. The product also has different security levels that allow a user to customize who has access to what information.

Stamford, CT-based Aperture was founded in 1987 and has locations in over 35 countries. WorkplaceIQ was established in 1991, and is the primary technology provider to the Octane Exchange, an open, neutral platform for brokers, owners, investors, and tenants. Investors in WorkplaceIQ include CB Richard Ellis, Insignia/ESG, Jones Lang LaSalle, and Trammell Crow.
