USAA Realty Co. is the real estate subsidiary of San Antonio-based USAA, a financial services company. The Sweetheart project gives USAA 3.7 million sf of industrial space in and around Chicago.
Privately-held Sweetheart is the world's largest maker of single-use disposable products for food and beverage. It will use the facility to expand distribution operations and accommodate current and anticipated growth.
Mike Fonda, Brendan Kelly and Hugh Williams, all of Cushman & Wakefield of Illinois Inc., represented Commerce Center. Fred Block of USAA represented his company and Sweetheart.
The single-story building will rise with pre-cast concrete and structural steel featuring state-of-the-art fire protection, lighting and environmental controls. Clayco Construction Co., based in St. Louis, MO, is the design/build contractor. USAA is the developer and building owner of the facility.
