Brownfield Getting Commercial Makeover

SANTA ROSA, CA-The City's office of Economic Development plans to use a federal grant to build a food and wine center on seven blighted acres in its historic Railroad Square district and clean up properties in the Gateway Development Area.

SANTA ROSA, CA-Santa Rosa is among 23 cities nationwide to receive a grant from the federal Environmental Protection Agency to revitalize underused and abandoned “brownfield” property in commercial areas.

The city’s office of Economic Development plans to use the revolving loan to build a food and wine center on seven blighted acres in its historic Railroad Square district and clean up properties in the Gateway Development Area.

Santa Rosa Mayor Mike Martini said the money will help showcase Santa Rosa and Sonoma County’s food and wine heritage. “This project will provide further stimulus to the successful businesses operating in historic Railroad Square,” Martini said.
