The company recently opened a hotel at US Highway 290 and Southwest Parkway in the southwest submarket. With the far northwest Austin property, Spartanburg, NC-based Extended Stay is taking aim at the concentration of technology companies, which, despite the downturn, still populate that area.
"The extended stay lodging market is the fastest-growing segment of the hotel industry, and is quickly catching the interest of business professionals, people relocating and those on extended work assignments," said George Johnson Jr., Extended Stay's CEO. Weekly rates range from $239 to $269 while the nightly rate is $45. The hotel provides voice mail, local phone calls and a computer data port. The hotelier also owns and operates hotels under the Crossland and Studio Plus brands in Austin.
