Susanne Boodram, Retail Researcher at King Sturge said: 'We were surprised to find coffee shops still high on the list of retail tenants' preferences, especially considering the consolidation which is going on in this sector at the moment.'
The survey also identified significant dissatisfaction with the role played by local councils. 58% of shopping centre tenants and 40% of retail park tenants agreed that local authorities could do more to support retailers. And it also highlighted the growing important placed upon public transport, with more than 75% of both shopping centre and retail park occupiers believing that steps need to be taken to improve public transport services to their location.
