Auto Retailer Buys 28,217-SF Building

SAN DIEGO-Publicly traded UnitedAuto Group pays $4.62 million for the 2.8-acre site with plans to demolish the building as part of a $40-million redevelopment of its car dealerships along Kearny Mesa Road.

SAN DIEGO-A publicly traded auto retailer has purchased a 28,217-sf building from a unit of General Electric in the Kearny Mesa area in a deal valued at $4.62 million.

UnitedAuto Group-West bought the building from Station Venture Operations, one of General Electric’s operating companies. The property is located at 8330 Engineer Road.

UnitedAuto Group plans to demolish the building on the 2.8-acre site, where San Diego’s NBC affiliate studios were located, as part of a $40 million redevelopment of its car dealerships along Kearny Mesa Road. The company will use a portion of the site to expand its Toyota sales division, currently located adjacent to the acquisition. The group will also build additional parking.
