Mexico Next Up for Economic Development Visit

AUSTIN-A Central Texas group, led by Austin's chamber of commerce, is making tracks south to court companies that might be interested in expanding. A week ago, the group trekked to Boston for the same mission.

AUSTIN-Economic development officials, a week after making a trip to Boston, head to Mexico this week. The Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce is joining several other Texas cities and the Texas Department of Economic Development on the three-day mission to Mexico City. The Austin group will promote Mexican investment in Central Texas and new trade relationships for Austin companies.

“This year we will visit both Mexico and Canada in search of businesses looking to expand or relocate,” said John Breier, the Austin chamber’s vice president for economic development. “This trip will also introduce some Central Texas businesses to potential Mexican partners that can enhance their trade prospects.”
