"His more than 30 years in food, with more than 20 years in the real estate discipline, boosts our growth and expansion plans," says Ron Marshall, Nash Finch's president and chief executive officer.

Harbecke spent much of his career with Jewel Cos., American Stores and Albertson's, holding a variety of management positions and building experience in such areas as national retailing, rural and urban markets, pharmaceutical development and regionalexpansion strategy.

Mike Mott, Nash Finch's executive vice president and president of the retail group, says Harbecke will "strengthen our retail strategy going forward, particularly with regard to AVANZA stores, our national Hispanic retail effort" which the companyrecently unveiled.

Nash Finch, a large food retail and distribution company, has more than $4.1 billion in annual revenues and currently owns and operates 112 stores in the Upper Midwest. The stores are principally supermarkets under the AVANZA, Buy n Save, Econofoods, Sun Mart and Family Thrift Center trade names.
