With 1.3 million sf of space over eight floors, the former Montgomery Ward Building is a 75-year-old art-deco structure that is on the National Register of Historic Places. It has sat vacant for the last 15 years.

Upon completion of the redevelopment, Montgomery Park will include a 10,000-sf health club facility, a 750-seat auditorium, and 3,000 parking spaces.

The project, which is expected to revitalize the empowerment zone by bringing in new jobs and businesses, has received several other funding packages including a $4.5 million Empower Baltimore Management Corp loan and $2 million from the Maryland economic Development Assistance Authority and Fund's Brownfield Revitalization Program. Tenants, including the Maryland Department of the Environment and the Maryland State Lottery, will be able to move into the building this summer.
