Ballpark Construction in Full Swing

SAN DIEGO-With most of the below-ground infrastructure complete, the new Downtown ballpark is more than a third complete, according to team officials for the San Diego Padres.

SAN DIEGO-The new Downtown ballpark is more than one-third complete, team officials for the San Diego Padres report.

About 250 people, a figure that will double in coming months, are working on the site that will see opening-day baseball by spring of 2004.

San Diego Ballpark Builders has poured the concrete for the main concourse deck. Concrete has also been poured for the beams that provide the foundation for seating. In total, nearly 50% of the concrete has been poured.
