Fog Cutter is an investment company specializing in mortgages and other real estate-related assets. It is run by the former executives of Wilshire Financial Services Group.
George Elkins Mortgage Banking originates commercial mortgages for life insurance companies. Elkins originated more than $500 million in commercial mortgages in 2001, according to Fog Cutter.
The firm has offices in Santa Barbara, San Diego and Newport Beach. Fog Cutter says Elkins' CEO Officer Jeffrey Hudson and President Steven Hinds will remain involved in the merged company.
