The dealership hopes to start selling cars by late October at the site, but will have to comply with stringent rules requiring it to manually wash cars, and limit the hours that employees can use air tools and compressors to daylight hours.

The City Council last week unanimously approved the deal. Also in response to concerns from residents, Mossy officials agreed to plant additional landscaping and shrubs. Mossy Nissan also plans to purchase property on the north side of Olive Tree Lane for employee parking and vehicle storage and delivery.

The dealership will be on four acres that was once home to Townsend Lincoln-Mercury. , The site has also been used by Poway Honda, now located on Poway Road.

Residents who live near the new Poway Honda have criticized city official for failing to enforce rules against excessive noise and employee parking on residential streets.
