Shaw-Lundquist recently won the construction contract with the Hennepin County property services department. The major component of the project is the BrookdaleArea Library, where 22,000 sf of space will be added. The Brookdale Service Center, Hennepin County District Court, and social services and corrections offices also will be expanded.
When completed in February 2004, the regional center will feature floor-to-ceiling windows on the parking lot side with two large rotunda entrances, creating an open and inviting look. The "main street" interior hallway will link the different county service areas.
The Brookdale Service Center-- residents can get a variety of car, boat, and bike licenses, marriage applications and birth and death certificates--closed Saturday and will reopen May 28 in its new temporary location at the old Drug Emporium, 5980 Shingle Creek Pkwy, in the nearby Brookdale Square Shopping Center.
