Freight Terminal Debated in Public Hearing

DETROIT-A community activist coalition of more 50 organizations and 500 individuals oppose the 840-acre project that stretches from Detroit to Dearborn. It also wants an older terminal improved.

DETROIT-The controversial Detroit Intermodal Freight Terminal, a proposed 840-acre project stretching from the Michigan Depot in southwest Detroit to east Dearborn, was scrutinized during a public hearing Monday night. The city of Dearborn planning commission will hear a presentation from the Michigan Department of Transportation about its proposed DIFT, and take testimony from members of the public.

Communities for a Better Rail Alternative, a coalition of more 50 organizations and 500 individual members that oppose the project, will also make a presentation about their proposed alternative to MDOT’s plans.
