LONDON-Property is continuing to outperform other investment media, according to the latest Jones Lang LaSalle Property Performance Index. At the end of the first quarter of 2002, property was showing an annual return of 7.8%, compared with -3.2% for the FTSE All Share Index, -1.4% for 15-year Gilts and 3.3% for Index Linked Gilts.

Sue Foxley, Head of UK Research at Jones Lang LaSalle said: ‘With returns of 2.4% in Q1 2002, and 7.8% on an annual basis, property remains the leading performer through one to five years. This high quarterly return is largely attributable to a significant increase in net income of 1.6% over the quarter.’
