RENTON, WA-IKEA, the Scandinavian retailer that settled here roughly seven years ago, recently completed expansion on its store here, more than doubling the amount of retail and warehouse space the facility had when it first opened its doors.

Ikea officials say they hope the renovation will help increase the store’s gross revenue from $100 million a year to an annual take of $150 million. Slightly less than a third of the expanded space will be used as a warehouse in a neighboring building abandoned by The Boeing Co. last year.

The Renton store has grown to 330,000 sf, including the addition of 28 showrooms, which along with the existing 50 showrooms, feature individual furniture displays and accessories for various rooms in the house. The store’s restaurant also has been enlarged from 196 seats to 370 seats.
