AUSTIN-The state of Texas, one of the biggest office renters in Austin even outside its own buildings, is seeking bids for 100,000 sf of office space for the Texas Workers’ Compensation Commission. But that doesn’t mean the commission will leave its current space, the Southfield building in the south submarket.

The Workers’ Compensation Commission’s current lease is running out at the 117,000-sf building at the intersection of Ben White Boulevard and Interstate 35. The new lease would run from October 2003 through September 2013. Proposals have to be made to the Texas Building and Procurement Commission by June 4. The state has put out several other requests for space, but those deadlines have passed.
