City Council Endorses $1B Housing Fund

ST. PAUL, MN-New Mayor Randy Kelly's plan would create at least 5,000 units, a fifth of them affordable to those earning 30% of the area median income. Neighborhood Sales Tax Revitalization money would be leveraged as well.

ST. PAUL, MN-The city plans to move ahead with the construction of5,000 housing units–at least 1,000 of which would be “affordable”–and the creation of a $1-billion housing fund. The city council recently endorsed Mayor Randy Kelly’s four-year housing plan.

The plan also would have the city contribute Neighborhood Sales Tax Revitalization money to the housing fund as leverage for private sector or nonprofit groups, as well as other public agency contributions.
