The company plans to relocate its West Coast warehouse and distribution facility from its current Fullerton site to the newly leased space. Staton will move from 701 Burning Tree Rd. to 2100 Valencia Drive, where it will occupy 87,000 sf of the 268,000-sf industrial building.

The Fullerton location is one of five warehouses that Staton operates throughout the nation. Its other sites are found in Chicago, Dallas, Memphis and Orlando.

In the Fullerton transaction, Staton was represented by Jeff Chiate and Rick Ellison of Cushman & Wakefield. Louis Tomaselli and Mitch Zehner of Voit Commercial Brokerage's Anaheim office acted on behalf of the landlord, Catellus Development Corp.

More industrial users may soon be on the lookout for extra space, as the county's manufacturing sector has already recovered significantly from last year's recession. According to a report released late last month by Chapman University, a rise in new orders and production has pushed Orange County into recovery mode and ended the recession that plagued the manufacturing sector in 2001. The university's Composite Index, which is used to measure manufacturing activity in the county, has jumped sharply from 35.6 in the fourth quarter of 2001 to 56.3 in the first quarter of 2002. These figures signal the end of a recession and the start of a recovery, as any value of more than 50 indicates growth for the sector.
