The original proposal called for a three-story, 38-unit senior home. The city council approved plans for a mixed-use complex at 2517 Sacramento St. The project will cost an estimated $8 million and will provide low-income housing for seniors, along with some retail space. The complex will include a parking lot.

The large group of senior residents, who attended city council meetings on the project, urging the council to consider the area's serious lack of affordable housing options for seniors, influenced the final decision on the project.

With the city's approval, the next obstacle for Affordable Housing Solutions is obtaining adequate funding for the project.
