Thomasville reportedly offered Value City at least $132,000 or $300 per job for the expected 220 new jobs the center would create, area brokers familiar with the city's company recruitment strategy tell GlobeSt.com on condition of anonymity. Orlando offered a deal valued at about $70,000.

Officials at the city and Value City couldn't be reached at GlobeSt.com's publication deadline. But area industrial brokers tell GlobeSt.com Value City had also looked at the vacant former 550,000-sf Toys R Us distribution center at Orlando Airport International Park before choosing the Georgia site.

Value City will occupy the former Helig-Meyers furniture warehouse at a site 30 miles north of Talahassee, FL.
