Situated near Safeway's Pleasanton headquarters, the space will serve as a central location for the company's purchasing department. Safeway plans to occupy the space immediately.

CarrAmerica Senior Vice President of Leasing for the San Francisco Bay Area, Byron Woodworth, says, "We are very pleased that Safeway has chosen CarrAmerica Corporate Center. Our team of property management professionals looks forward to enhancing the operations of this new office."

The lease was signed in three parts. The company signed a lease to take 130,000-sf of space in May and 11,000-sf of space in June. The deals were signed at about $27 per sf annually, and CarrAmerica agreed to perform tenant improvements on the space. The last part of the deal closed for 2,000-sf at similar terms.

Brokers Chris Adams, Kirk Beebe and Duane Fitch of CB Richard Ellis represented Safeway in the transaction, and Ted Helgans and Gabe Arechaederra of Colliers International represented CarrAmerica.

CarrAmerica Corporate Center is comprised of one million sf in six office buildings, a five-room conference center with video conferencing technology and a 500-person cafeteria.
