The Krispy Kreme unit, owned by Aaron's 755 Doughnut Corp., a division of 755 Restaurant Corp., will open at 633 Evans Street in Atlanta's West End on June 25.
In an unrelated move, Winston-Salem, NC-based Krispy Kreme signs its first franchise agreement outside North America, hoping to score in Australia and New Zealand. In a partnership with Sydney-based Borderless Australia Pty Ltd., Krispy Kreme Australia will develop 30 stores over the next five years throughout Australia and New Zealand.
The states-based parent company retains 35% equity interest in the partnership. Borderless is owned by John McGuigan, a native Australian instrumental in expanding the Baker & McKenzie law firm throughout Asia, and Lawrence Maltz, the original chief operating officer of Seattle-based Starbucks Coffee Co.
