The Oakley Redevelopment Agency plans to hire Bottomley Associates and Harrison Engineering to create a downtown design and development plan and downtown infrastructure analysis. The agency plans to spend $108,000 for the project, and hopes to have it completed by early next year.
The consultants will work with city officials and the Downtown Revitalization Task Force to create the new downtown plan, which will consist of new development, streetscape design, facade renovations and infrastructure improvements in downtown Oakley.
The city of Oakley is one of California's newest cities and was incorporated in July 1999. At the time of this writing, the City is a little over two years old and is hard at work realizing its vision. It is situated in the eastern portion of Contra Costa County, along the shore of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, near the cities of Pittsburg, Antioch, and Brentwood. The city's first general plan is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
