SAN FRANCISCO-Mercy Housing, one of the nation’s largest affordable housing providers, raised $800,000 for the cause of affordable housing last week at a fundraising gala, and will use the money to develop more affordable housing throughout the Mercy Housing System.

Mercy Housing, which was founded in 1981 by the Sister of Mercy in Omaha, handles housing development and property management for families who are economically poor. It also revitalizes distressed neighborhoods by attracting new investments and economic development opportunities.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the support we received for this event,” says Sister Lillian Murphy, RSM, President and CEO of Mercy Housing, Inc. “In particular, the support from the financial and real estate communities tells us that we must be doing something right.”
