BOCA RATON-The Renaissance Hotel has experienced a true rebirth following $9 million worth of renovations to the Marriott property. Work on the property covered general upgrades to the rooms, banquet and meeting spaces, as well as the addition of a new pool area, gym and a store-front restaurant, Porter's Steakhouse. The 189-room hotel remained open during the 18-month process, and has now been transformed into an upscale boutique property.
Located at 2000 NW 19th Street in the Glades Road business district, the hotel was a Sheraton property until it took on the Renaissance franchise name in September of last year. Detroit, MI's Trident-Allied LLC has owned the 21-year-old hotel since 1999. Built in 1981 for about $8.2 million, the hotel was sold in 1994 for $6.4 million and again in 1992 for $5.8 million. There are no records available of its new appraised value, but its assessed value for 2001, prior to the completion of the upgrade, is $10.7 million.
