LONDON-Vodafone has started the massive task of disposing of 30 separate properties in Newbury, Berkshire, in preparation for next year's move into a purpose-built world headquarters on the northern outskirts of the Berkshire town. To begin with it has assigned the lease on Guildgate House Newbury to wireless infrastructure supplier Mikom UK. The 3,196-sf building is held on a lease with eight years unexpired at £45,650 ($67,500) per annum.

In all, Vodafone has 250,000 sf of surplus space to sell or lease in Newbury, and its property advisor Strutt & parker has opened a new commercial office in the down to handle the disposals.

Nigel Aslin, Head of Strutt & Parker's Corporate Real Estate Department said: “This swift letting to Mikom is a clear indication of how the Vodafone relocation process has opened up a remarkable number of opportunities for companies looking to move into and expand in the town. Newbury's strategic location and excellent transport links have made it an exceptional business environment, and the fast turnaround of this deal is indeed a promising start towards the disposal of the remaining properties.”
