The nonprofit groups are the Citizens Housing Corporation of San Francisco and the Affordable Housing Affiliation of Benicia, and the housing transit village is called the Sereno Transit Village.

The project will rise on a 5.86-acre parcel on Sereno Drive between Broadway and Solano Avenue. It includes 125 affordable housing units for low-income families, community space and a bus transfer center. The $20 million project is slated for completion in April 2003.

Two regional and six city bus lines will serve the area, connecting residents to employment, services and recreation in Vallejo. On-site day care facilities are also planned.

Rents in the village will range between $450 and $650 depending on the median income in Solano County when the project is completed.
