Brokers John Morris and Dave Daris of Wilkes-Barre, PA-based Mericle Commercial Real Estate Service handled the transaction. The identity of the owner is "confidential," Morris, a senior sales associate for Mericle, tells GlobeSt.com. Morris also declined to provide occupancy and rental rate information on the property.

Rocky Hill, CT-based Ames Department Stores anchors the shopping center. Ames filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last August and is required to submit a reorganization plan to the bankruptcy court by February 28, 2003.

Meanwhile, although a handful of Ames units have been sold, more than 300 remaining Ames stores continue to operate throughout 14 northeastern states.
