Design plans are under way for The Dana Inn & Marina, a hotel located at 1710 West Mission Bay Dr. Tucker Sadler Noble Castro Architects is drafting plans for the 51,000-sf expansion of the resort for Bartell Hotels, with Richard Bartell, general partner, providing oversight.

The project includes the addition of new guest rooms, a new pool area, and new lobby and conference facility. The overall design goal is to create a contemporary architecture that is inviting and expressive of the San Diego experience, including lush landscaping and refreshing water elements, that will be in harmony with the surrounding environment, according to Tucker Sadler Noble officials.

The hotel addition will be located on a 2.5-acre site adjacent to the existing bayside hotel. A new three-story building housing additional guest rooms will feature a gently-curved facade in order to optimize bayviews from each room.

For easier hotel access, the new lobby entrance will be located directly across from the West Mission Bay Drive access to Dana Landing Road. The meeting room will be located near the center of the site and have a view of the bay.

Robert Noble is serving as the principal-in-charge for the architectural firm, with Gary Thu as project manager and Nozar Ravanbach as project designer.
