Atlantic Station Cooler Expects to Generate $12M in Annual Revenue for Southern Co.

ATLANTA-The 50,000-sf central cooling plant and two-mile network of piping will maintain temperature-control at buildings in the 140-acre, downtown redevelopment complex.

ATLANTA-Locally based-Jacoby Development, Inc. and Southern Company Energy Solutions, a business unit of Atlanta-based Southern Co., are partnering in engineering the largest central cooling system in the Southeast for Jacoby’s 140-acre Atlantic Station, a mixed-use development at the former Atlantic Steel site in midtown Atlanta.

A spokesman for Southern tells GlobeSt.com the utility provider expects to collect between $12 million and $14 million in annual revenue from Atlantic Station, once it is fully built out.

The partners wouldn’t disclose the construction cost of the project.
