The Houston, TX-based buyer has shelled out more than $13 million for the land, which it purchased from SunCal Cos. of Anaheim. A brokerage team from O'Donnell/Atkins Co., consisting of Mackey O'Donnell, Craig Atkins and Mike Hunter, represented both parties.

The new owner has already begun construction on its proposed mixed-use development, Amerige Pointe, which is rising at the northeast corner of Gilbert Street and Stern Goodman Street. Slated for completion by the fourth quarter of 2003, the complex will encompass 11,000 sf of retail space and 292 luxury rental units at build-out. The mix will consist of 17 live-work units and 51 lofts, as well as 84 one-bedroom, one-bath; 128 two-bedroom, two-bath; and 12 three-bedroom, two-bath apartments.

Amerige Pointe is The Morgan Group's second project in Fullerton, according to John Favreau, the firm's vice president of development. "There is high demand for this type of class A multifamily product in Fullerton, as well as all of North Orange County," Favreau adds.
