College Builds 77,000-SF, $11M School

ARNOLD, MD-Anne Arundel Community College has joined forces with its private fundraising arm Anne Arundel Community College Foundation to construct a $10.65 million, 77,000-sf school for area residents. The four-story full-service facility in the western portion of the county will be able to accommodate as many as 10,000 students a year.

A lecture hall, eight computer labs, two science labs, 22 classrooms and 10 conference rooms will comprise the state-of-the-art development. The school will offer day, evening and weekend classes, as well as specified contract training for employees of local businesses. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, AACC President Martha A. Smith called the development “a desperately needed capital construction project.” AACC will lease a six-acre parcel for the building at Arundel Mills from owner and operator The Mills Corporation.
