The new scheme includes an 80,000-sf Sainsbury's supermarket; a 90,000-sf office development; 166 apartments, of which 43 will be affordable housing and 1,800 car parking spaces, partly on decks above the supermarket. The buildings will be arranged around a new public piazza.

Simon Webster, Director of Planning and Development for Sainsbury's Property Company, said: "Following extensive consultation, a high quality scheme has been created that will integrate a mix of uses in this prominent town centre location. The scheme is highly effective in terms of both urban land use and urban design."
