City Selects Designer for 12-Acre Lake Union Site

SEATTLE-Seattle Parks and Recreation, which will spend between $28 million and $45 million on a waterfront project in Seattle over the next few years, selects a design consultant for the effort.

SEATTLE-Seattle Parks and Recreation has selected Hargreaves Associates as the principal design consultant for South Lake Union Park, a 12-acre waterfront project that will cost between $28 and $45 million to develop.

Hargreaves, a firm comprised of planners and landscape architects with a broad range of urban design experience, will lead a design team to revise the South Lake Union Master Plan update, develop a design and prepare construction documents for high-priority funded elements, and monitor construction.

The team will work with Parks staff and the Maritime Heritage Center at South Lake Union to develop a scope of work for the park. In 2000, the Navy turned the 12-acre waterfront property over to the city, which developed a master plan for the redevelopment project.
