The deal is part of a strategy drawn up by Atkins' property consultancy subsidiary Lambert Smith to consolidate the group's disparate offices across London under one roof. The move has triggered break clauses and lease terminations on most of Atkins' other London holdings, but three units of surplus space are to be marketed by LSH: 10,900 sf at 77 Portland Place, W1; 5,085 sq in Berkshire House, High Holborn, EC4 and 3,500 sf at 15 Clerkenwell Green, EC1. Atkins will also be letting 10,000 sf on one of the nine floors at Euston Tower on a short-term basis until it is required for future expansion.

The deal leaves Mapeley with only four further floors in the tower, two of which are currently under offer. Letting agent DTZ is quoting a rent of £45.00 ($70) per sf on the remaining 20,000 sf.
