A 12,000-sf executive meeting center is already operating at the hotel. Thayer also is adding a rooftop ballroom and upgrading the hotel's 254 rooms to add work areas as part of the $3 million renovation.
At Sixth Street and Interstate 35, the hotel anchors the east end of the Sixth Street entertainment district in downtown Austin.
Crowne Plaza is a brand of Six Continents Hotels. Austin's Inter-Continental Stephen F. Austin and Holiday Inn Town Lake, both in the downtown, also are part of Six Continents Hotels Austin portfolio.
