City Accepts Development Outline for 1,500-Acre Valley

GRESHAM, OR-The development of Pleasant Valley moved closer to reality this week as the Gresham City Council accepted a citizen panel’s development outline for the 1,500 acre valley located south of Gresham. The land was brought into the region’s urban growth boundary in 1998 in what remains the single-biggest expansion of the UGB.

There’s a long way to go still, however. There’s the development code and zoning that must be created for the area, which will contain single- and multi-family homes and commercial components as well as parks and schools. Then there’s the cost, estimated at $171 million, of upgrading the streets, sewer, water and storm-water systems to handle the increased traffic.
