The $9.5-million deal also includes a 3.8-acre parcel of land valued at $2.5 million.

The WEA, which represents 74,000 school and college workers in Washington state, has about 100 employees and is now located at 334334 Eighth Ave. S in Federal Way in a 35,000-sf headquarters it built about 25 years ago, says Debra Carnes, a WEA spokeswoman.

Carnes says the group has outgrown that facility, which will be put on the market soon. She adds the WEA was attracted to the Northlake building because rather than be forced to fit into an existing building, the Northlake property can be customized to meet members' needs. The WEA is expected to occupy the new building by March 2003.

Other businesses joining the WEA in the office park include: Capital One Financial Corp., Coldwell Banker Bain, DeVry Institutes, Financial Pacific, Safeco, Tesoro Petroleum, Trendwest Resorts, Weyerhaeuser and World Vision.

When complete, Quadrant's East Campus Corporate Park will be a 106-acre business park with 1.2 million sf of office space. It sits next to Weyerhaeuser's 500-acre corporate campus east of Interstate 5.
