School Expansion Hinges on Apartment Purchase

TACOMA-Members of the Tacoma School District OK a plan to buy the six-story Broadview Apartments for $3.6 million. The eventual purchase will allow for the expansion and modernization of Stadium High School.

TACOMA-Local school district officials intend to buy a 50-unit apartment complex to make way for more students at Stadium High School.

Tacoma School District board members have given the go-ahead to purchase Broadview Apartments for $3.6 million, according to the agreement hashed out this week. Officials also have the option of eminent domain, should that agreement not be honored by apartment owners. The 50,000-sf apartment complex is located at 506 Second St., adjacent to the school’s technology annex.
