Since 1984, Makadon served as chairman of his firm's litigation department and was elevated to chairman of the firm at the beginning of this month. He is a trustee of the University of Pennsylvania Law School, his alma mater, and former chair of the Philadelphia mayor's task force on police corruption.
Makadon graduated cum laude from Penn Law School in 1967 and served as a clerk in the US district court for Pennsylvania's eastern district. He joined his current firm in 1975.
RAIT, a member of both the Russell 2000 and Russell 3000 indexes, reported a 122% increase in net income and a 45% increase in revenues for the second quarter of 2002, compared with the same quarter a year ago. It is a specialty finance company that concentrates on the commercial real estate industry.
